Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square is famous and also very easy to find. It's very handy to use as a reference point in finding your way around central London.

Nearest tube station: Charing Cross
Tubes not too far away: Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, Embankment
Buses stopping in or near Trafalgar Square: Many! Ask at your hotel or check London Transit. If you find yourself at Trafalgar Square, use a London Transport bus for a cheap sightseeing trip. The number 11 is a nice one.

Indoors National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery
Eating Cafe in the Crypt - Church of St Martin in the Fields (basement), cafes and restaurants in both National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery. View from restaurant in National Portrait Gallery (Portrait Restaurant) overlooks Trafalgar Square and extends to the Thames and beyond.
Outdoor Sights Nelson's Column, Lutyens Lions, Canada House, South Africa House (decorated with images from South Africa), St Martin in the Fields church, vistas toward Thames.
