Paddington Station, London

Paddington Bear was lost (and found) in Paddington Station, but for those of us who aren't bears, it's a fairly easy place to get around in. The rail station is separate from the tube station, but they are very close together.
Located a little bit north of Hyde Park, Paddington is another transport hub where trains, tube, buses can all be had. The train to Heathrow Airport comes in here. So does the rail line for destinations to the west, including Windsor (for Windsor Castle).
The older part of the rail station has the Sherlock Holmes-era charm of the great 19th century engineering works. Opened in 1852, it still shows its Victorian bones and detailing. Here's an Architectural Mini-Guide from Network Rail.
I love places like this. So many journeys, commonplace and urgent, have started and ended here. So many goodbyes and hellos. If you add together all the time spent in Paddington, by anyone who's ever passed through, how many lifetimes would that be?
